I have admired TNR for a while now. Great, independent reporting. Given that I'm retired and on a fixed income, I've avoided signing up to be a paid subscriber. We all need to understand the importance of our civil service! It’s always been important to the smooth functioning of our now democracy! Democrats have an opportunity to drive that point home now! Let’s understand that it’s the Congress that passes
Congressional law-making creates the need for our civil service!
I fear that the Musk/Trump fiasco to destroy our civil service for their personal gain is not the only threat to our civil service!
The Roberts’ Court gave corporations the power to use their extreme wealth to fund elections (Citizens United!) We see where this decision has brought us!
Their wealth bought huge corporate tax breaks!
Now I fear that the Roberts’ Court will give corporations another gift! The gift of unaccountability!
The Roberts’ Court may undermine our Independent Agencies by giving the President excessive powers to fire the heads of these Agencies without due cause!
This decision allows political meddling at the very top of these all-important Agencies! This political meddling hurts the civil service by placing political hacks and sycophants in charge! Morale in these Agencies would plummet!
Massive deregulation will follow if the Supreme Court grants unconstitutional excessive powers to the President!
The political meddling within our Independent Agencies will result in massive deregulation which will hurt the consumer, small business, the climate, our health, and our economy / all for corporate gain!
